Valves and Protective Devices

Brand

Wika

Description

Via cocks, shut-off valves, valve manifolds or monoflanges, pressure measuring instruments can be securely separated from the process during commissioning, maintenance or calibration. Protective devices, such as syphons, overpressure protectors and snubbers, increase the service life and extend the application spectrum of pressure measuring instruments. Alongside the extensive selection of instrumentation valves and accessories, WIKA also offers qualified assembly of different individual components into a complete measuring arrangement (“hook-up”).

Applications of the pressure gauge cock

  • Shut-off device for pressure gauges, for measurement of liquids, gases and vapours

Description of the pressure gauge cock

Pressure gauge cocks provide the opportunity to either vent the connected pressure gauge according to the position of the handle (venting position), i.e. put it into a pressure-free state, or to vent the pressure measuring instrument under pressure (operating position) or to let the medium escape (blow position). For pressures higher than those in the data sheet, pressure gauge valve must be used.

Applications of the pressure gauge valve

  • Shut-off and throttle valve for pressure measuring instruments, for measuring liquids, gases and vapours
  • In stainless steel version for aggressive media, also in aggressive environments
  • Process industry: Machine building, general plant construction, chemical/petrochemical, power plants, mining, on- and offshore and environmental technology

Description of the pressure gauge valve

Form A version of the pressure gauge valve is supplied with LH/ RH union, and Form B version with shaft for the mounting bracket, with nipple and union nut. Shut-off valves with a test connection are intended for the simultaneous connection of operating pressure measuring instruments and test connection pressure gauges to the pressure pipeline. With pressure gauge valves per DIN 16271, the test pivot is sealed by a lens-type sealing ring and a screw cap placed on top; with valves per DIN 16272, the test pivot is separately isolated by an additional valve spindle. pressure gauge valves are silicone-free.

Applications

  • Adjustable overpressure protectors are intended to protect pressure gauges against the effect of pressures exceeding their maximum pressure rating
  • Stainless steel version for corrosive pressure media, even in corrosive ambience
  • Process industry: mechanical engineering and plant construction, chemical/petro-chemical, power stations, mining, on- and offshore, environmental technology

Description

The overpressure protector consists of a spring loaded piston valve. Under normal pressure conditions the spring holds the valve open. When the system pressure exceeds the set pressure, the force exerted by the spring is overcome and the valve closes. The valve will remain closed until the system pressure drops approx. 25 % below the closing pressure, where-upon the force of the spring will open the valve.
Factory setting see data sheet.

To change setting:
Turn adjusting screw clockwise ⇒ closing pressure higher
(or anticlockwise ⇒ closing pressure lower)

Overpressure protectors must not be used as control devices!

Applications of the pressure gauge syphon

  • Syphons protect pressure measuring instruments from pulsations in the medium and from excessive heating
  • Cooling element for fluids, gases and vapours in pressure measurement
  • For direct mounting to the pressure connection of the pressure measuring instrument or to the shut-off device (stopcock or valve) mounted underneath

Description of the pressure gauge syphon

Pressure gauge syphons per DIN 16282 U-form, form B, and trumpet form, form D, have a welding connection for the pressure tapping on the process side and a threaded connection on the instrument side.

In the industrial standard versions, threaded connections are also available for the pressure tapping on the process side.

U-form pressure gauge syphons are intended for horizontal pressure tapping; trumpet-form pressure gauge syphons are intended for vertical pressure tapping.

Inside the pressure gauge syphon, condensate is collected, which prevents the ingress of hot media into the measuring instrument. We recommend filling the syphon with a cooling separating liquid before commissioning the pressure line.
